1ST ANNUAL FISHING SWAP MEET

The Derby Park Flea Market has existed in the center of Louisville for thirty-nine years and has become the state’s largest weekly indoor/ outdoor market. The market entertains 10-12,000 customers every weekend.

When you see a vendor begin to unload his truck and customers notice fishing poles and tackle, all flashlights are on! Back in the 70s and 80s, you wouldn’t have to travel more than a couple of miles to find a bait shop; now, there are very few in Jefferson County. With most retail stores making the move to southern Indiana, this has left many Kentucky fishermen “DRY ON THE ROCKS“ or ”LET’S SAY UP THE CREEK WITHOUT A PADDLE.”

Louisville is the host of a grand Boat and RV Show in early February every year that all outdoorsmen look forward to. When you are ready to purchase that new boat or RV this is the place to go. But what about that “old fishing guy” who has a garage full of bait and tackle he would like to sell or trade and upgrade with new equipment? That then opens the door for the collector who scrounges through flea markets and yard sales every weekend looking for lures and rods that bring top dollar. So, are you one of those guys who cannot get into his garage because that old boat that needs a good coat of paint is in your way? Somebody out there would love to jump on that project and would offer to buy or trade that treasure.

The Derby Park Expo Five is no stranger to large events. Every year at Kentucky Derby time, we entertain between 125 and 200 RVs and tents in the Derby Park Campground. On May 10th and 11th, we held the 1st Annual Derby City Que Off. This is an official Kansas City BBQ Society Cook Off event. Governor Andy Beshear has proclaimed this event the Kentucky State Championship BBQ Cook Off.

Plenty of room for over one hundred 10’x 10’table spaces and much more room for RV and Boat sales. Casting contests and games for kids and adults. Guest speakers will teach you how to catch the “Big One”.

So get that RV out, hook that boat on the back, throw your tackle and rods and reels in the boat, and head to Derby Park/ Expo Five and make some money.
